There could be many reasons you could be having problems with your walk in cooler. Some of the most common reasons we find is usually always due to a leak of refrigerant. This is by far the worst type of problem because it’s preventable. If unit owners would simply give their units maintenance a lot of these problems could be reduced and in most cases prevented with maintenance of units condenser and evaporator coil units.
Dirty Coils
Over time, there is a build up of debris that your evaporator and condenser will go through over regular use. After months of use if there has been no maintenance done on your unit, there is a good chance there is no proper ventilation running thru the coils. We recommend at the minimum 4 times a year to have your coils clean and maintenance. Lack of maintenance can keep your unit working harder and longer. Not only shortening the life of your machine but also increased light bill since your machine is running longer to bring you to temperature.
When we service coils, we ensure to remove all debris that could cause damage to your system. We ensure to check that the levels of refrigerant are right to ensure your machine is running at factory standards.
Bad Thermostat
The Thermostat is perhaps the second most replaced unit in a walk in cooler. When a thermostat goes bad, it sends incorrect information to the compressor which in turns fools the unit, making it think that the desired temperature has not been met therefore keeping the machine to continue running. Before long, the unit will build ice since it has not turned off in a while since the thermostat has been sending wrong information.
